3D Modeling and Reverse Design of Failed Casting Parts Based on CATIA

Abstract: In this paper, after obtaining the point cloud data of the failed parts by the 3D laser scanner, the 3D modeling and reverse design framework for failed casting parts based on CATIA is proposed. The paper combines the 3D design software CATIA V5 to reverse design the acquired data to obtain the digital model. The failed part was remanufactured without the digital model and was copied and restored by using sand type 3D printing technology. By using the framework given in this paper, the parts and part molds are reverse designed and remanufactured, and the production cost is reduced and the manufacturing efficiency is improved by using the sand type 3D printing technology.
